Does your kid have a knack for ribbon roping and barrel racing, or do you want to watch some kids who do? Either way, the Priefert World Youth Rodeo is perfect for you. The Mount Pleasant-Titus County Chamber of Commerce is putting this event on from March 31-April 2, and it is certain to be a hit. Get your hat and boots so you’ll be ready to give a yee-haw at this fun-filled rodeo.
It wouldn’t be a rodeo without a lot of events, and this one doesn’t disappoint. It has everything you would expect at a youth rodeo, and then some. You can watch tie down calf roping, ribbon roping, bull riding, goat tying, and more. Of course, it wouldn’t be a rodeo without barrel racing and bareback riding, so you can watch those events as well. It doesn’t matter if you have a young cowboy or cowgirl in the rodeo or if you’re just a regular bystander. You will get a thrill out of watching the kids take part in these events.
You will take in one long go-round on Friday and Saturday, and then watch the top 10 finals round on Sunday night. There is prize money involved, so be sure to cheer the finalists on to victory. A lucky (and talented) cowboy and cowgirl will take home a nice bounty. He or she just might use that money to buy a steed to ride around Mt. Pleasant. Of course, the winner might use the money to buy video games instead. You never know, but that’s part of the fun.
This rodeo is open to kids 18 and under, with a 13 and under junior incentive. The staff will check the ages, so don’t try to hide your true age under your 10-gallon hat. Sure, you might be able to rope circles around the kiddos, but that would ruin the fun. Instead, sit back and give a holler to the youth.
